BK's Sarobi Micah

July 2, 1994 - March 15, 2003

This page is in tribute to my beautiful princess, Micah.  We spent many years together, always just enjoying being together.  She had to leave me on March 15th, 2003.  I believe that love never dies and that we will always be connected by that love, but I do miss her horribly.

Micah was almost 9 years old when she passed.  What a beautiful girl she always was!  She was a beautiful puppy and kept getting more beautiful all the time.  Even as a senior, everywhere we went people were struck by her beauty.  When Micah was grown, she was 150 lbs. and 35" tall at the shoulder.  She was very cognizant of her size, always being gentle around sick or elderly people, but did enjoy intimidating strangers by looking them in the face while on all four feet!  She was well socialized though, being friendly and sweet to everyone we met, but loving her family above all.  She would have protected us with her life if the need arose.

As she got older, her health began to deteriorate.  She kept getting recurring urinary tract infections and then her back end began to lose feeling.  I had to help her walk, using a Walkabout Walkabelly harness.  I thought about a cart, but had been warned that once we went with that, she would lose any use of her back end, even the little she still had, so we just dealt with with everything using the harness.  I considered it an honor and a privilege to care for such a special creature.  It wasn't always easy, but keeping her comfortable and extending our time together made it worthwhile.  All of our time together was good quality time, but our time at the end, as she grew older and more feeble, was so very special and precious to us both.

I knew that our time together was limited, as I'm sure she did too, so spent every possible moment with her.  And I will always feel blessed that our last day together was Sa, a day that I'm off work.  We spent every moment of that day together, other than when I picked up her favorite food for dinner!  She fell asleep a little after 10 p.m. and shortly after she did, made a sound like she did when dreaming.  I had just gotten up from her bed to sit on the couch near her and, hearing her, got up to check on her.  I knew immediately and just held her in my arms.  She was cremated and will be buried with me.

Until we're together again, my girl, wait for me at the bridge.  I will treasure my memories and hold you in my heart until then, as I know you will me....I will love you always and forever....
